I spent the better part of a month deciding on a laptop that would benefit my needs. I ideally wanted something slim, powerful enough for the occasional game and a large battery life that could last doing simple tasks like web browsing or word processing. This fits all of my needs with ease.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7560 is an affordable Ultrabook style laptop that punches well above its weight in terms of style, power and overall functionality. It comes in 2 main variations – and at a price point of £749 or £899 won’t break the bank.

The lower spec Dell which I currently have has:

  • 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-7200U Processor (3M Cache, up to 3.1 GHz)
  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit English
  •  LCD Back Cover for Non-Touch Screen – Theoretical Gray
  • 8GB Single Channel DDR4 2400MHz, up to 32GB (additional memory sold seperately)
  • 256GB Solid State Drive
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® 940MX with 2GB GDDR5
  • 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Truelife LED-Backlit Display
  • Internal UK/Irish Qwerty Backlit Keyboard
  • 1 HDMITM 1.4a
  • 1 USB 3.0
  • 1 USB 3.0 with PowerShare
  • 1 USB 2.0

Design

Firstly this laptop look simply stunning, it has an aluminium brushed metal body that gives the laptop style, making it look premium, and classy. The thin bezels that surround the screen is a feature that no other manufacturer apart from Dell has, making it a standout feature. The smooth tactile material that surrounds the keyboard is almost rubbery, making your palms comfortable whilst the 15.6 Full HD IPS Display showcases vivid colours beautifully. A backlit keyboard is also a really nice standard feature that elevates it up another class in terms of style and class.

Performance

The new 7th gen Intel i5-7200U processor coupled with the 256gb SSD makes everyday tasks like web browsing fast and snappy. Boot time is superfast as well averaging under an impressive 10 seconds. The NVIDIA 940MX Discrete Graphics enables this laptop to carry out graphically intensive tasks like gaming with relative ease – a graphics card is something the fast majority of other laptops at this price point do not have. This laptop easily handles Overwatch at low settings. Having the new 7th i5-7200U processor also enables a longer battery life, without sacrificing any performance.

Overall

I do believe that this laptop offers great value and is a standout choice for a powerful, stylish and impressive sub £800 laptop. It is responsive, snappy and the thin bezels coupled with the 15.6 Full HD IPS Display is simply really impressive. Having used this laptop now for around 1 month, I have found it perfect in terms of portability, power and price point, I could not recommend it highly  enough.
